Toledo Stories Update. At the recommendation of WGTE, we are postponing the premiere of the Warehouse District on Toledo Stories. Instead of premiering in June (a slow TV month), the show will premiere in September to a much bigger audience. Additionally, WGTE has offered to produce two 30-minute shows for $60,000. We have raised $50,000 thus far, so if any of you want to write us a check for $10,000, we'd be most grateful. :) Seriously, we are taking any and all donations. It all adds up! Mail your check to 22 North Erie Street, 43604, or donate here!
ARC Update. A run-down of the proposals to the Architectural Review Committee was given. They include garbage containment, a new construction project, and signage approvals. Clearly the neighborhood is abuzz with activity!
Warehouse District Plan & Enforcement. Now that the Plan has been approved by City Council, an overlay document that includes enforcement for things such as signage and parking standards, is being drafted. This gives TWDA the "teeth" it needs to enforce the guidelines within the Plan. As you know, the Plan follows the City's 20/20 Plan for a vibrant, redeveloped downtown, and the Warehouse District has been a catalyst thus far.
Pedestrian Friendly Neighborhood. The board has been working for nearly a year to advocate with city government on ensuring that the neighborhood is safe and pedestrian friendly. We have had meetings with our city council representative, city employees, and other city councilors to advocate for a slowing down of Washington Street. We have renderings of what an improved streetscape could look like and will continue to push for a solution!
Parking Conversation. We are exploring opportunities to expand on-street parking in the Warehouse District that will direct revenue toward neighborhood projects. Projects such as streetscapes, foot bridge, and beautification could be done without any direct City funding if we plan carefully. More on this in the future.
Membership & Wearables. 2018 dues are now being accepted! Watch your email for a membership notice and link to pay your dues online. Scott Antesky is heading up a member benefits project that outlines all the benefits of becoming a TWDA member. We also are working on TWDA hoodies and polos to be available for sale. The t-shirts from last year are sold out!
